Reactors panel

Create and manage the signals that make Astrofox controls react.

The Reactors panel lists the signals available to drive compatible controls. It occupies the lower half of the left panel and can be resized by dragging the divider between it and Layers.

Add and select a reactor#

Select the + beside Reactors to create a reactor. The new item appears with a live output meter and becomes selected automatically.

Selecting a reactor opens its detailed editor above the player. Depending on the output mode, the editor can show:

  • Controls for output mode, Max dB, smoothing, hold time, decay, sensitivity, or speed
  • A spectrum with a draggable selection region
  • A vertical meter for the reactor's normalized output

The editor appears only while a reactor is selected. Use its close button to dismiss the editor without deleting or disabling the reactor.

Manage the list#

Reactor rows behave similarly to layer rows:

  • Double-click a name to rename it.
  • Select the lightning row to open that reactor's editor.
  • Select the eye to enable or disable its output.
  • Hover and select the trash icon to remove it.

The thin meter under each row lets you compare reactor activity without opening every editor.

Use a reactor#

Creating a reactor does not change the composition by itself. To use its output:

1
Tune the signal

Play audio or enable live input, then adjust the reactor until its output meter follows the sound or timing you want.

2
Select a visual element

Select a display or effect in Layers and find a reactor-compatible control in the Controls panel.

3
Bind the control

Choose the reactor. Output maps across that control's minimum and maximum.

One reactor can drive several controls. Disabling it pauses all of its bindings while keeping their configuration in the project.

See Reactors for output modes, signal tuning, and practical binding patterns.
