Stage
Preview the composition and manipulate supported displays directly.
The stage is the live preview of the project canvas. It shows the combined result of enabled scenes, displays, effects, reactor bindings, and the current audio or live input state.
Stage tools#
The buttons above the canvas enable tools only when the environment and current selection support them.
Picture in picture#
Open the stage in a floating picture-in-picture window when the browser or desktop environment supports it. This is useful when adjusting audio in another window or keeping the visual visible during a performance.
If the button is disabled, picture in picture is unavailable in the current environment.
See Picture in picture for behavior, limitations, and browser support details.
Layer transform#
Select a supported display in Layers, then enable the transform tool. The overlay lets you move and resize the display directly on the canvas. Those changes update the same position and size values shown in Controls.
The tool is disabled when the selected item cannot be transformed on the stage, such as a scene, effect, disabled layer, or a display with a 3D camera.
See Layer transform for the full gesture guide and how each layer type responds to resizing.
Camera control#
Select a display with a 3D camera, then enable camera control. Drag on the stage to orbit and use the mouse wheel to change camera distance. The camera values stay synchronized with the display's controls.
See Camera controls for gestures, limits, and the reactor-bindable camera properties.
Load audio by dropping it#
You can drag an audio file over the stage instead of using Load audio in the action rail. The drop indicator shows that Astrofox has detected the file, then the app loads it into the player for playback and analysis.
Zoom the editor view#
The center of the status bar shows the canvas size, zoom buttons, a zoom slider, and the current percentage.
- Select the canvas dimensions to return to 100% zoom.
- Use − and + or the slider for a precise view size.
- Select the percentage to fit the stage to about 80% of the available workspace (Fit to screen).
Stage zoom affects only how large the canvas appears in the editor. It does not change project resolution, layer scale, or export dimensions.
Hide one or more side panels from the app bar before using Fit to screen so more of the viewport is available for the canvas.
